THE AMERICAN PLAYWRIGHT SERIES

For over a decade, Shot in the Dark Productions has been committed to presenting award winning, thought provoking plays, musicals, classics, contemporary, and experimental pieces in equal measure within the intimate setting of the Evelyn Larson Theatre.

In 2017 we expanded our offerings to include original plays concerning all aspects of the American Experience with our - The American Playwright Series.  Now in it’s second year we seek to continue developing and producing a work by a living American Playwright about the American Experience.

What is ''The American experience''

The American Experience is at its very core is about what it means to be an American, past, present, and future.  It is the personalities, events and diverse population that have had a profound impact on the shaping of America.  It is the pursuit of freedom and justice from oppression or prejudice.  It is both the common people and larger than life figures that are courageous, inspiring, passionate and persuasive.  It is the common bond of the people, by the people, for the people which enthralls us with a sense of duty to attempt to achieve the impossible.  It’s about the independents, the rebels, the fighters and crusaders, the brave and the bold, the inspiring ones, but most of all it’s about all of us as Americans.
